Marial Pierce was added to the Lions' coaching staff in August 2016.
Pierce helped head coach Caitlin Hansen transition to Saint Leo in June of 2017. The warm welcome developed into a dynamic coaching staff that led the Lions’ to the program’s best season start, breaking multiple game, season and career records along with earning a first-ever national ranking.
Pierce came to Saint Leo following a successful playing career at Division I Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J. The 2016 graduate was a two-time First Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in 2015 and 2016, along with earning Monmouth's Most Valuable Player honor in both of those seasons as well. She finished her career with 151 points by scoring 97 goals and adding 54 assists.
The Mid-Major All-American, an honor earned in 2015, brings in NCAA Tournament experience after making the tournament in 2013 when she helped her team win the Northeast Conference title. She was also named the 2013 Rookie of the Year in the Northeast Conference.
Pierce brings in coaching experience as well, having worked Monmouth's lacrosse camps from April 2013 through the summer of 2015. She also most recently served as the head coach for Little Silver Youth Lacrosse in Little Silver, N.J. As the head coach, she was required to prepare practice plans and game strategies, along with instructing her players.
The native of Middleburg, Va., will be helping with the offensive side of the field as well as recruiting and academic coordination for the team.
Pierce graduated from Monmouth in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in business with a marketing concentration.
