Biography

AS A SENIOR (2013-14)
Started and played in all 33 games with the green and gold during his senior season… Truly a career season for the senior leader… Led the team with 30.2 minutes per game… Pulled down 5.2 boards per game… Shot 65.0 percent from the field goal… Sank 62.3 percent of his shots from the free throw line…  Averaged 6.7 points per game… Recorded a career-high 17 points in the Lions’ victory over West Alabama in the NCAA South Region quarterfinals (3/15/14)… Registered a career-high 14 rebounds twice during the year, in the Lions’ win over Palm Beach Atlantic (1/18/14) and against Lynn in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament quarterfinals (3/6/14)… Tallied a career-high 4 assists against Shorter (11/17/13)… Scored in double-digits in ten contests... Finished his career with 356 points and 329 rebounds.

AS A JUNIOR (2012-13)
In the Conference Championship season, Mitchell continued to invoke a physical presence where he played in 30 games and started 11…Averaged 1.4 points-per-game behind 58.1 percent shooting from the field…Playing defense, he yanked down 69 rebounds (2.3r/g)…He notched seven steals…Scored a season-high six points in a big win at Florida Southern (02/13/13)…Went a perfect 3-for-3 from the field  in a double overtime victory at Barry (01/12/13)…Set this season’s mark in rebounding with nine boards on the road against Elizabeth City State (12/17/12).

AS A SOPHOMORE (2011-12)
Playing under a new head coach his sophomore season, Mitchell became a defensive force playing in 30 games and starting nine…Limited in a shooting role, he still averaged 2.6 points-per-game…He sank 33 field goals and averaged 67.3 percent from the field…In his area of expertise on defense, he pulled down 73 rebounds (2.4r/g)…Notched 11 steals during the season…Scored a career-high 12 points against Trinity (Fla., 11/26/11) which served as his only double-double of 2011-12…Was a perfect 6-for-6 in 21 minutes of action against Trinity (Fla., 11/26/11)…Set a season mark in rebounding with 10 against Trinity (Fla., 11/26/11)…Forced three steals against Division I Stetson (11/19/11).

AS A FRESHMAN (2010-11)
Appeared in 17-of-28 contests…Averaged 3.7 minutes-per-game…Shot 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from the field…Scored a season-high four points against Trinity College (11/16/10)…Totaled 14 rebounds…Secured season-high five boards at Florida College (02/17/11)…Collected a season-high, two-block effort against Florida College (02/17/11)... member of Saint Leo University President's Club Fall 2011. 

CAREER
Attended Winter Springs High School…His senior season ended with the team being ranked the fourth-best squad in Class 6-A high school basketball in the state of Florida according to floridahoops.com, and second in the Tampa area according to TBO.com…He was named the 2010 Senior All-Star Showcase MVP…He received honorable mention All-Conference in the 2010 season…He had a 76% field goal percentage, while averaging 8.5 rebounds and 6.2 points-per-game...He also took 54 charges his senor season.

Born on June 4 in Plantation, Florida…Sport Business major…Hobbies include playing basketball and volleyball…His career goal is to play in the NBA…He believes that he always puts the team first and does what is best for their overall good is his best assets to the team…Names Dwight Howard as his favorite athlete...Names the Orlando Magic as his favorite team...Chose Saint Leo because it provided the perfect mixture of athletics and academics…Son of Gary and Kim Mitchell…Has one sister, Randi.
