Hedman was hired as an assistant men's basketball coach on first-year head coach Spencer Henke's inaugural coaching staff in the summer of 2024.
Hedman comes to the Sunshine State from the University of Alaska Fairbanks where he served as the head coach from December 2023 to June of 2024 and helped guide the Nanooks to an 8-18 season as they were just three games away from advancing to the conference tournament. In 2022, Hedman was the head assistant coach for Alaska Fairbanks which included organizing team travel, scouting reports, community engagement, workouts, and the team defensive strategy.
From 2018-2022, Hedman served as a volunteer coach for the Nanooks and helped lead them to a Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship title in the 2021-22 campaign while Alaska Fairbanks made it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Hedman earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2023 from Alaska Fairbanks while serving as a volunteer coach for the Nanooks.
