CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The top-ranked and top-seeded Saint Leo softball team opened the World Series on Thursday with a 4-2 victory over eighth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas, in the process, the Lions ended a 23-game winning streak for the Spartans.

Briana Neal crossed home plate. In the seventh, the Spartans scored two runs, however, the Green & Gold held St. Thomas Aquinas at bay to secure the victory.
In the circle, senior
Tierney Hocquard started and pitched a complete-game with six strikeouts. She surrendered two runs (both earned) on five hits.
Saint Leo will return to action tomorrow, Friday, May 29 as it will face either fourth-seeded Cal. State San-Marcos at 12 p.m.
