SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo softball freshman
Abigail Hynes was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Freshman of the Year Finalist, announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier this month, Hynes was tabbed the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Freshman of the Year and collected All-SSC Second Team status. This year so far, the Florida native has posted a .397 batting average with 56 hits on 141 at-bats while scoring 21 runs. She had registered 14 extra-base hits that featured six homers. Additonally, Hynes recorded 50 RBI, a .589 slugging percentage, and a .421 on-base percentage. She helped the Lions capture their first SSC Championship since 2017.
