In the bottom of the fifth, the Warhawks claimed 1-0 after an error by the Green & Gold. However, the Saint Leo bats exploded in the sixth. Freshman Abigial Hynes tied the game with a sacrifice-fly to right field followed by junior
Sydney Cline driving in classmate
Alexis Barber on single to right field. Cline eventually came around to score as the Lions led by a 3-1 margin. Junior
Alex Wright gave Saint Leo a 4-1 advantage with a sacrifice-fly to bring in junior
Izzy LaRoche. The Green & Gold scoring outburst was capped off by a two-run homer from Beuerlein, 6-1.Â
On the mound Hocquard started and pitched 4.0 innings as she struck out four batters. She surrendered six hits and one run (unearned). Wright pitched 3.0 innings and with a pair of strikeouts while only allowing one hit to the Warhawks. She earned the win and moved to 12-0 on the year.
The Lions will play in the NCAA Division II Softball South Region 1 Finale in game six starting at 12 p.m. tomorrow.
