SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team wrapped up its 2026 campaign as it host Sunshine State Conference (SSC) foe, Eckerd, in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon while it honored its seniors today. The Lions lost game one by a 6-4 margin followed by dropping game two 18-7.
As the Lions trailed 4-2 in game one, senior
Thomas DeBrower blasted his first home run of the season and knotted the game at 4-4. However, the Tritons tallied a pair of runs in the eighth and held on to the lead for the remainder of the game.
On the mound, junior
Flynn Howard started and pitched 6.0 innings. He allowed three runs (all earned) on nine hits and issued five walks. Additionally, Howard was dealt a no-decision. In relief, senior
Kyle Anderson had 1.1 innings of work and held Eckerd hitless while recording one strikeout.
In the game two, the Green & Gold claimed a 5-3 advantage in the bottom half of the first. The five-run inning featured an RBI-single from junior
Abrahan Rios followed by senior
Amai Rivera-Martinez driving in a run with a single to center field. Senior
Roberto Odor drove in a pair with a double down the left field line before redshirt sophomore Jake Carillo sacrifice-flied to left field. However, Eckerd recorded back-to-back seven-run innings in the fourth and fifth as it led by a 17-7 margin at the end of the fifth. The Tritons scored one more run while they held the Lions at bay for the remainder of the day.
On the mound, freshman
Parker Hohnstock started and pitched 3.1 innings while recording three strikeouts. He surrendered eight runs (all earned) on four hits and issued five walks.
