Apr 13, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's lacrosse senior midfielder Sophia Wood was recognized by the Sunshine State Conference on Monday with her first career SSC Weekly Honors. Wood posted 10 points last week on seven goals and three assists as then-#10 Saint Leo defeated two top-10 teams on the road #6 Tampa and #4 Embry-Riddle to improve to 13-3 and 5-1 in conference play.

Sophia Wood led then-#10 Saint Leo to a 2-0 week with two top-ten road wins, highlighted by the highest-ranked victory in program history. On the week she totaled 10 points on seven goals and three assists, including what proved to be the game-winning goal in both games.
In a win at #6 Tampa, Wood delivered a game-high six points with five goals and an assist, including the game-winner, while going a perfect 3-for-3 on free-position attempts. She followed with a four-point performance in a comeback victory at #4 Embry-Riddle, scoring two goals with two assists and adding five draw controls to help fuel a seven-goal run that turned an 11-7 deficit into a 14-12 win.
Across the week, Wood averaged 5.0 points per game, shot 58.3 percent from the field, placed 66.7 percent of her shots on goal, and added six draw controls, leading the Lions against top-five competition.

Wood and #4 Women's Lacrosse are back home for the regular season finale against #9 Lynn at 4 p.m. on April 15.
