SAINT LEO, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Saint Leo University men's tennis team closed out the week with a 4-0 victory over #50 Valdosta State on Sunday. The Lions won their fifth straight ranked win. Saint Leo improves to 12-2 overall and 4-1 in SSC play and Valdosta State falls to 4-7 overall.
#4 Saint Leo rolled past #17 Valdosta State, 4-0, behind a dominant showing in doubles and three straight-set wins in singles.
The Lions took control early by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The nationally ranked duo of #2 Kodai Kato and Jose David Segovia cruised to a 6-1 victory at the top spot, while Dylan Andrianaly and Sander Sootla followed with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
In singles, Saint Leo carried that momentum, picking up three quick wins to clinch the match. #9 Jose David Segovia led the way with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2, followed by #51 Kodai Kato's 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 4. Shay Sarfati sealed the match at No. 6 after his opponent retired.
