ORLANDO, Fla. - #11 Saint Leo University men's tennis student-athlete
Kodai Kato was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. Kato went 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action as Saint Leo took down all three ranked opponents last week. This marks the first weekly honors of Kato's career.

Kodai Kato put together a strong week to help #11 Saint Leo pick up three wins over ranked opponents, going 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles.
Playing at number 4 singles, Kato handled business in all three matches. He started with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Wayne State, then followed with a three-set win against Flagler, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. He closed the week with a tough SSC win at Lynn, grinding out a 7-6, 6-7, 10-8 victory to stay unbeaten.
In doubles, Kato teamed up with
Jose David Segovia at number one to go 2-1, including a pair of ranked wins. The duo picked up a 6-3 win over #15 Wayne State and a 6-2 win over #41 Flagler, helping the Lions take control early in both matches.
Kato's play was a key factor in Saint Leo's 3-0 week against ranked teams, highlighted by his perfect singles record and solid work at the top doubles spot.

Kato and the Lions are back in action on Friday hosting Rollins at 2 p.m. for an SSC match up.
