WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Saint Leo university lacrosse defeated the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 15-11 on the road, opening conference play 1-0.
First Quarter:
Palm Beach Atlantic struck first with two early goals, but Saint Leo quickly responded. Anderson Smith and Ben Baker scored back to back to tie the game, and Brady Moltisanti added a late goal off an assist from Aidan Knoetgen to give the Lions a 3–2 lead after one.
Second Quarter:
Saint Leo took control in the second with a six goal frame. Greg Palmer scored twice on man up opportunities, while Tristan LeBlanc, Baker, and Smith each added goals during a dominant stretch. The Lions outscored PBA 6–3 in the quarter to build a 9–5 halftime lead.
Third Quarter:
The Lions continued their momentum after the break. Baker opened the scoring, Smith and LeBlanc each added goals, and Palmer converted another man up opportunity. Despite a late push from PBA, Saint Leo maintained a 13–8 advantage heading into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter:
Palm Beach Atlantic made a brief run to cut the deficit to three, but Saint Leo answered quickly. Palmer scored again, and Moltisanti followed with a goal off an assist from Owen Wills to extend the lead. The Lions held off the late surge to secure the 15–11 victory.
Stat Leaders:
Saint Leo also controlled possession with 37 ground balls to 27 and went 3-for-5 on extra-man opportunities.
The lions are back in action on Saturday, March.28 for senior day at 1 P.M.
