ORLANDO, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's lacrosse freshman midfielder
Isabella Gebinine was named the Sunshine State Conference defensive player of the week on Monday. Gebinine won 18 draw controls to lead the tenth-ranked Lions to a 2-0 trip to Alabama.
Freshman midfielder
Isabella Gebinine dominated the draw control in both of #11 Saint Leo's road victories. The Denver native totaled 18 draw controls across wins at UAH and Montevallo. She won seven draws against UAH and followed with 11 more at Montevallo, consistently giving the Lions extra possessions. Her control at the draw helped Saint Leo outscore opponents 38-14 during the week and dictate tempo in both contests. Gebinine's presence in the circle was instrumental in extending the Lions' winning streak. As a freshman Gebinine leads the conference with 43 draw controls and is leading the SSC in draw controls per game with 7.17.
Gebinine and #10 Women's Lacrosse are back in action this week with an exhibition on Tuesday and a regular season game on Thursday against Assumption.
