ORLANDO, Fla.- Haleigh Thomas was named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday, March 16. Thomas was impressive in the circle going 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA as #9 Softball extended its win streak to 17 games. She becomes the second Saint Leo pitcher and third Lion to earn SSC softball weekly honors this year.

Haleigh Thomas anchored the pitching staff during a 5–0 week as the Lions extended their win streak to 17 games. The senior right-hander went 2–0 in two starts, throwing back-to-back complete games and totaling 14.0 innings with a 1.50 ERA. Thomas allowed just six hits and three runs while striking out 21 batters and walking three.

She opened the week with a complete-game win over Caldwell, allowing three runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts in an 8–3 victory. Thomas followed with a dominant three-hit shutout against Palm Beach Atlantic, striking out 11 over 7.0 innings to clinch the series sweep.

Thomas now leads the Sunshine State Conference in strikeouts per seven innings and ranks 11th in NCAA Division II at 10.2 K/7. She has also helped lead the Saint Leo pitching staff to five shutouts this season, the most in the SSC.

Saint Leo is home for a midweek non-conference game hosting the Flagler College Saints at Mary Cannon Cabot Stadium. First pitch of game one on Wednesday, March 18 is set for 1 p.m.
