SAINT LEO, Fla. – For the first time in her career, sophomore pitcher
Chloe Hocquard has been named by National Fastpitch Coaches Association as the Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week. This award comes on the heels of the Canadian being named Jimmy John's Lion of the Week on Monday.
Chloe Hocquard went 2-0 on the week in two appearances, posting a 0.64 ERA. In 11 innings pitched, the sophomore struck out 10 batters while allowing one run on three hits. In the opening game of the week for #10 Saint Leo against Wilmington, she went the distance, pitching a 7-inning, 6-0 shutout. She took a no-hitter into the fourth inning, and the lone hit of the game came on an infield single. Hocquard pitched four innings, allowing just one run on two hits in a 13-1 win over Assumption to close out the week. On the season, she is averaging nearly a strike out an inning and has lowered her season ERA to 1.05. She leads the SSC in opposing batting average (.109) and is second in the conference with a 1.05 ERA.
Hocquard is the first Lion to earn weekly honors from the NFCA since Kayla Betts was named pitcher of the week on April 25, 2023.
Hocquard and #9 Softball return to the diamond on Wednesday, March 11 to take on Caldwell in a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is set for 5 p.m. at Mary Cannon Cabot Stadium.
