SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo baseball climbed into the regional conversation on Monday as the Lions earned their first-ever top-10 ranking in the National Collegiate Basebal Writers Association (NCBWA) South Region standings, under head coach Josh Kiem, checking in at No. 10 n the latest release, announced on February 9.
The ranking marks a significant milestone for the program and for the second-year head coach as Saint Leo continues its strong start to the 2026 season. The Lions opened the year with a 5-1 record, positioning themselves among the region's elite early in the campaign.
Saint Leo was one of four Sunshine State Conference programs represented in the poll, joining Tampa, Barry, and Florida Southern. The Lions entered the rankings after being unranked in the previous poll, signaling their rapid rise through the early weeks of the season.
Tampa claimed the top spot with seven first-place votes, followed by West Florida and Lee rounding out the top three. Saint Leo edged into the No. 10 position with 10 points, finishing ahead of several programs receiving votes.
