TAMPA, Fla.- Saint Leo University track and field opened their outdoor season at the Tampa Spartans Open, seeing multiple top finishes and personal bests across both men's and women's teams.
For the men, freshman James Jones IV led the way in the 100m with a personal best time of 11.31 placing 8th overall. In the 200m freshman Fred Filsaime placed 11th overall with a time of 21.41, he also placed 6th in the 400m in a personal best time of 49.88. Leading the way in the 400m was freshman Jordan So, who ran a time of 49.61 placing 5th overall. Freshman Amir-Styles Benjamin also saw a top 10 finish in 50.07.
The 800m saw freshman Paul Rivera lead the way in 1:58.14, followed by freshmen Angelo Acosta and Benjamin Henry who ran personal best times of 2:00.14, and 2:00.88. Santiago Rodriguez set a personal best in the 1500m at 4:14.55. Freshman trio Joshua Warren, Paolo Castro, and Adon Elienist ran times of 55.34, 56.75, 58.66, in the 400m hurdles all top 10 finished in the 400m hurdles.
The women saw freshmen Kansas Henry set a personal best with a time of 12.87 in the 100m, placing 9th overall. She was followed by Giuliana Adonteng in 10th place at 12.97. Henry also placed 4th in the 200m with a time of 25.58. Freshman Alisah Ward 26.58. Alexis Morgan also set in the 1500m with a time 5:12.43. Freshman Hawley Johnson, rounded out the night in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.60, placing her 4th overall.
The Lions are back on the track at the Embry-Riddle Eagle Invite on Sat. March 7.
