SAINT LEO, Fla. – Nine goal scorers led the 12th-ranked Saint Leo University women's lacrosse team to an 11-goal victory over #17 Rollins College on Wednesday night. Senior
Sophia Wood notched her 100th career point with a season-high five-point game. Saint Leo improved to 3-1 overall with the non-conference victory over the Tars, who fall to 2-1 on the season.
Saint Leo's nine goal scorers included six with a multi-goal game. Senior
Jana Nuss led the team with seven points on five goals and two assists, followed by S. Wood's five career milestone night.
Marina Dean,
Holly Hill, and
Natalie Jones all recorded a hat trick on Wednesday night. Freshman
Grace DeWitt had two goals and two assists for her first career four-point and multi-assist game. Freshman
Isabella Gebinine won a game best nine draw controls.

Jessica Harclerode made 10 saves and freshman
Jordan Rose made a save as she entered for the final 67 seconds of the game.

For a second straight game, the Lions held their opponent to a single goal in the first quarter. Highlighting a 9-1 first quarter was a 5-0 run to open the scoring with goals from Nuss, Hill (2), and DeWitt (2). Late in the first quarter, the Tars got on the board. Back-to-back goals by Sophia put the Lions up by six as freshman
Sophia Santella scored her second collegiate goal followed by
Sophia Wood's first goal of the night.
Marina Dean's goal with 87 seconds left in the opening quarter extended Saint Leo's run to 4-0 to end the first 15 minutes.
Briana Bellando opened the second quarter with her lone goal of the night giving the home team a nine-goal advantage. Rollins looked to gain some momentum as it went on a 6-2 run through most of the second quarter cutting Saint Leo's lead to just five goals at 12-7. Nuss buried a shot past the Tars goalie to make it a 13-7 lead for the Green & Gold at halftime.
The second half opened with three straight goals by Wood.
Sophia Wood scooped up the opening draw and raced down the field to score her second goal of the game just 15 seconds in to the second half.

Anna Wood scored her lone goal of the night returning the lead to nine goals.
Jana Nuss gave the Lions a 10-goal advantage with her fourth goal od the night. The running clock was short lived as less than a minute later the Tars dropped the lead back to nine and then eight with back-to-back goals. The Lions closed out the third quarter with a 2-1 advantage on goals from Hill and Nuss.
The final quarter opened with
Sophia Wood scoring her fourth goal of the evening but once again the Tars stopped the running clock with their 11th goal of the game at 12:12.
Natalie Jones took over the final 11 minutes going on a 3-1 run as she scored all three of her goals in the final 11 minutes.
Harclerode made four saves in the first half, two in each quarter and three in both the third and fourth quarters.
Jordan Rose entered the game for the final 67 seconds and made her only save of the game.

Saint Leo hits the road for a pair of games in Alabama as it will make stops at UAH (Feb. 27) and Montevallo (March 1). The Lions will see a familiar face on the home teams sideline as former graduate assistant, Makenna Kincaid is now an assistant coach at Montevallo. Friday's game at UAH is set for a 5 p.m. eastern opening draw and Sunday's game is scheduled for a noon start time.
