ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's basketball team lost 87-67 on the road against Eckerd in a Sunshine State Conference matchup on Wednesday night.
The Lions held the lead for most of the first half and eventually led by a 35-26 margin following a free throw from senior
Matt Ansah. Saint Leo claimed its biggest lead of the night after a mid-range jumper from Ansah with 1:18 in the first frame. Heading into halftime the Green & Gold led 47-39.
Coming out of the break, the Tritons scored 13 consecutive points to claim a 52-47 edge. Eckerd grew its lead to double figures and maintained the advantage for the remainder of the game.
Senior
Donovan Hill lead the Lions with 23 points while grabbing six boards with one assist and one block. Ansah finished the game with 15 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Senior
Owen Pawlikowski and junior
Luther Smith Jr. each chipped in with nine points.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday, February 21 as they travel to face #1 Nova Southeastern in a conference contest starting at 4 p.m.
