#20 Softball Takes Final Day from the Blazers and the Host Saints

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The 20th-ranked Saint Leo University Lions softball team concluded the Flagler Tournament with a 3-1 record after a pair of victories on Sunday. The Lions opened the day looking to put Friday night's loss to Valdosta State in the rearview mirror and defeated them 5-1 in the first game on Saturday. Saint Leo closed out the weekend with a 5-2 win over the host Flagler Saints. Saint Leo improves to 7-2-1 overall ahead of next week's SSC opening series against nationally ranked Tampa.

#20 SAINT LEO 5, VALDOSTA STATE 1
Alex Wright pitched a complete seven-inning game allowing an earned run on six hits while striking out five and walking one. Offensively, Saint Leo quickly responded to a Blazers homer in the second inning with three runs over the next two innings. Abigail Haynes plated the final three runs for the Lions with an RBI double in the fourth and a two-RBI base hit up the middle in the sixth. With two on, one out in the bottom of the fifth, Wight induced an inning ending double play to keep the Lions up 3-1.

#20 SAINT LEO 5, FLAGLER 2
Hynes successful day at the plate carried over into the second game as she had an RBI base hit up the middle to give Saint Leo a 1-0 lead. After Flagler made it a 2-1 game in the bottom half of the first. Not until the fifth inning would another run come across the plate. Sydney Cline's RBI grounded out in the fifth inning tied the game up. Brianna Neal went yard with a three run shot over  home. Tierney Hocquard went the distance for allowing two runs on three hits while walking two and striking out five in her season.
