SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men's basketball team will return to the court on Tuesday, October 27, traveling to Tallahassee to face Florida A&M in an exhibition match up at the Al Lawson Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
The exhibition will provide the Lions with another opportunity to evaluate their progress and continue preparing for the upcoming season against a different style of competition. Following their exhibition against South Florida, Saint Leo will look to build on its experience while sharpening its execution on both ends of the floor.
Head coach Spencer Henke expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to compete against the Rattlers while emphasizing the importance of adapting quickly to a new opponent.
"I'm extremely thankful to Coach Ward for this opportunity and excited to get back on the floor with these guys," Henke said. "FAMU will look very different from USF, which will prepare us for the varying styles of play we'll see this season. More importantly, though, this game will give us our first chance to see whether or not we can quickly transition from one opponent to the next in terms of scheme and scouting report details."
With the season approaching, the Lions will continue focusing on improving their defensive awareness, offensive fundamentals and overall consistency. Henke identified those areas as key points of emphasis heading into Tuesday's contest, challenging his team to respond to the lessons learned in its previous exhibition.
"We are still in the process of getting better on both sides of the ball and have been really focused on making sure Saint Leo doesn't beat Saint Leo since Monday Night @ USF," Henke said. "I was not happy with our transition defense attention to detail and our offensive fundamentals at USF, so these have been two areas I want to see improve massively at FAMU. I believe a lot in these guys and their ability to respond - which is exactly what Tuesday's game gives us - A Chance to Respond and be LIONS."
Tuesday's exhibition is has free admission to the contest.
