SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo men's lacrosse has been ranked 19th in the USILA Preseason Poll, with seniors James Davies and Owen Wills named to the second and third teams respectively.
Heading into the season, the men's lacrosse team is ranked 19th and joined by fellow Sunshine State Conference (SSC) schools, The University Tampa at No.2, and Rollins College at No.18. Last season the lions finished the year 9-7, but now with a No.2 preseason ranking in the SSC look to improve upon where they left off last year.
James Davies was named to the second team preseason all-American team. Appearing in all 16 games last season with 15 starts, Davies tallied 54 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers and dished out three assists ending the season being named Honorable Mention All American status.
Owen Wills last season set a single-season program record for most caused turnovers with 34, which ranked second in the SSC and tied for 10th in the nation. The Canada native was tabbed the SSC Defensive Player of the Year and received a First Team All-SSC nod. Wills led a Lions' defense that ranked third in the conference as it only allowed 10.99 goals per game and third in caused turnovers with 150. Wills was named the USILA South Region Defensive Player of the Year.
Men's lacrosse will begin the 2026 campaign next Friday, Feb. 6th at 7PM, where they play at home the University of Alabama Huntsville.
