LAKELAND, Fla. - Saint Leo women's basketball played the Florida Southern moccasins in an SSC contest where they fell by a final score of 92-69.
Quarter One
The lions started strong, forcing turnovers and trading buckets back and forth. Sophomore Amy Duggan got hot early, connecting on a three and scoring 7 points in the opening frame. Freshman Jailenn Green started off her big night with 7 points in the quarter as well. Saint Leo led 23-22 after one.
Quarter Two
The second quarter the Mocs were able to answer with a run of their own. Still playing hard and forcing turnovers the Lions trailed 54-36.
Second Half
The second half saw the Lions show grit and fight to the end, although the end result was not what they were looking for there were still positives that came out of the night. "The team fought hard until the end, we played 30 minuets of good basketball tonight but needed 40. I like how we played." Head Coach Charles Marshall said. Green scored 21 points, and added 3 steals. Freshman Dackjerlin Senior Feliz recorded 6 rebounds a new career high and freshman Zoe O'Leary recorded 4 blocks.
The women's basketball team returns to action this Saturday, Jan. 31st where they will play Florida Tech.
