SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's basketball team lost against Rollins in a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) matchup at home on Saturday evening.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle that featured 10 lead changes and eight ties. In the closing minutes of the first frame, the Tars built a 37-31 lead at halftime. During the second halftime, Rollins maintained a 10-point or more advantage for the majority of the frame to seal the victory.
With less than five minutes remaining, the Tars grasped a 70-54 lead until the Lions scored seven unanswered, however, Rollins captured a double-digit lead before the end of the game.
The Green and Gold were led by senior
Owen Pawlikowski, who recorded a career-high 22 points on 8-of-18 from the field and connected on a career-best five three-pointers in addition to dishing out two assists. Senior
Matt Ansah and junior
Luther Smith Jr. each tallied 11 points while Ansah grabbed eight boards and posted eight assists. Senior
Donovan Hill notched 10 points, five rebounds, one steal, and one assist.
The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday, January 28 as they travel to face nationally-ranked Florida Southern in a conference bout.
