SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's basketball team lost at home versus Barry by an 81-73 margin in a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) matchup on Saturday night.
Saint Leo battled throughout the contest, but Barry (9-8, 4-5 SSC) held on in the later stages of the second half to secure the road victory. The Lions trailed by five points at halftime, 42-37, before the Buccaneers gradually extended their advantage in the second half.
Senior
Donovan Hill led Saint Leo with 18 points, while
Matt Ansah added 18 points of his own, going 8-for-10 from the free-throw line. Senior
Owen Pawlikowski chipped in 15 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Junior
Luther Smith Jr. contributed 11 points off the bench. Saint Leo finished the game shooting 41.7 percent from the field but struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 2-of-20 attempts.
The Lions will return to action on Wednesday. January 21 as they host nationally-ranked Nova Southeastern at 7:30 p.m.
