Women's Soccer and Palm Beach Atlantic Play to a Scoreless Draw in SSC Opener

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's soccer team played at home for the first time this season as the Lions opened SSC play against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday evening. With the construction of adding a track to the Saint Leo Soccer Field, the Lions will play the home portion of the 2025 schedule at University Turf Stadium, primarily the home field for the Saint Leo men's and women's lacrosse teams. In the home opener, the Lions and the Sailfish played a hard-fought battle, ending with a scoreless draw as the teams combined for 13 saves on 32 total shots. The Lions now sit at 1-3-1 while PBA's record moves to 1-3-2 as both teams earn a point in the SSC standings.

The Lions produced 14 total shots with five on target, while the Sailfish finished with 18 shots and eight on goal. Freshman keeper Soley Larusdottir anchored the Saint Leo defense with eight saves in a full 90-minute effort as she turned in her first clean sheet of the season. Senior captain Ainsley Meyer led the home team with four shots, including one on goal, while Chloe Froese added three shots with two on target.

How It Happened: Saint Leo 0, Palm Beach Atlantic 0

Palm Beach Atlantic continued to press throughout the first half, generating seven shots and six corner kicks, but Saint Leo's back line and goalkeeper stood firm.

In the second half, the Lions pushed forward with ten shots, including quality chances from Meyer, Froese, and Ella Van Doren. Larusdottir continued to deny the Sailfish, making six second-half saves to secure her first clean sheet of the season. Despite multiple late attempts, Saint Leo was unable to capitalize and the match closed with both teams settling for a draw.
