Saint Leo, Fla. - Saint Leo University men's and women's cross country has announced their fall schedule for the 2025 season. With head coach Anthony Deleva at the helm in his second season, the lions are looking to improve upon their ninth place finish at the Sunshine state conference (SSC) championship last fall.
The lion harriers will open their 2025 campaign at 7:45am on Saturday, Sept 6 at Holloway Park in, Lakeland, Fla. for the Swan City Invitational hosted by Florida Southern College.
Following the trip to Lakeland, both teams will head north to Tallahassee, Fla. on Fri. Sept. 12 for the Hoka Nights of Thunder XC Fest. Racing begins at 8 p.m. the lions will have an opportunity to run at the iconic Apalachee Regional cross country course. This course is well known throughout the state of Florida as the host of all the high school state cross country championships, and has hosted the NCAA DI Cross Country National Championship, and will host the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country championship.
On Oct. 3 the harriers will travel north to Lake City for the Alligator Lake Open hosted by Florida Gateway College for their penultimate regular season meet.
The lions will close out the regular season on Fri. Oct. 17 at the Ed Holloway Classic with another trip to Holloway Park in Lakeland toeing the line at 6 p.m.
The post season will see two more trips to Lakeland, as Florida Southern will host the Sunshine state conference championship, and the NCAAA South Regional championship. The SSC championship will take place on Sat, Oct. 25 at 8 a.m., and the regional meet toe the line on Sat, Nov. 8 at 8 a.m. Should the lions make it out of the region, the NCAA DII National Championship occurs on Sat, Nov 22nd, at Wayne E Danehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisco.
