SAINT LEO, Fla. – Former Saint Leo men's basketball standout guard, Francis Sio, is set to join the Tampa Florida Pickup basketball team in The Basketball Tournament (TBT).

Sio stated, "My time at Saint Leo helped me mentally to deal with the ups and downs, not just in basketball, but in life. I think it's going to be valuable in the tournament because of the natural ebbs and flows of the game. I'm extremely grateful for this opportunity. I think more than anything it just confirms what I already knew. That I'm a high-level player and I d deserve to be on this platform."

Sio was a two-year member of the Green and Gold during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. During his graduate student year, the North Carolina native averaged 14.0 points along with 3.0 boards per game and started 22 of the 27 games for the Lions. Sio dished out a total of 69 assists on the year in addition to recording 35 steals while shooting 42.9 percent from the field.

Saint Leo head men's basketball coach Spencer Henke stated, "What an unbelievable opportunity for Sio to continue to make his impact on the professional basketball scene as he comes off a successful first season with the Tampa Bay Titans. The TBT tournament has grown into one of the best events of the summer and our program is honored to have an alum in Sio representing the Green and Gold. Sio's ability to shoot the ball at a high level and be an all-around playmaker will be a big time as he and his teammates chase the $1 million dollar prize. I can't wait to watch Sio make his impact and hopefully win the $1 million dollars with his team."

The tournament consists of 61 total teams from across the nation with eight regions. The 61-team field is set to tip-off on Friday, July 18 with the winning team earning one million dollars.
