SAINT LEO, Fla. -  Entering his first year as the head coach of the Saint Leo University women's basketball team, Charles Marshall has announced his first hire. Shareka Maner will join Marshall in ushering in a new chapter of women's basketball at Saint Leo. Maner comes to Saint Leo with experience across all levels of collegiate basketball.

"Coach Shareka Maner brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into our program," said Marshall.  "With her extensive experience NCAA Division I, NAIA, NJCAA, both as an Assistant and Head Coach.  I am excited and incredibly fortunate to have her join our Lion family.  Coach Manner will help bring a winning tradition to Saint Leo University Women's basketball."

With over eight years of collegiate coaching experience across NCAA Division I, NAIA, NJCAA, and NWAC programs, Shareka Maner brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion to the sidelines. Currently the head women's basketball coach at Yavapai College, Maner has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes—on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.

"I'm incredibly grateful and truly blessed for the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Saint Leo," said Maner. "Thank you to Coach Marshall for believing in me. It means so much to be back in my home state, doing what I love and helping develop strong, confident student-athletes both on and off the court. Excited for what's ahead! GO LIONS!"

Her coaching journey has taken her through a variety of levels and regions, including head coaching roles at St. Andrews University, Grays Harbor College, and Colby Community College (interim), as well as assistant positions at Southeast Missouri State, Cochise College, Colorado Northwestern, and Colby. Maner's teams have been recognized for both athletic and academic success, with numerous players earning All-Conference and Academic honors and maintaining high graduation and transfer rates.

Maner is known for her ability to build competitive programs, foster strong team culture, and lead effective recruiting and player development efforts. She has been instrumental in organizing community outreach, youth camps, and fundraising initiatives, helping to elevate program visibility and support.

A former NCAA student-athlete herself, Maner played two years at the University of Maine before finishing her career at Henderson State University, where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in Sport Management and Sport Administration, respectively. She is a dedicated member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), a former NWAC Western Region Commissioner, and an active community volunteer.

Driven by purpose and grounded in faith and service, Shareka Maner continues to make a meaningful impact through coaching, mentorship, and leadership.
