#13 Softball Lands Five on CSC Academic All-District Team

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Five Saint Leo University softball student-athletes earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon. Tierney Hocquard, Hope Epps, Haleigh Thomas, Lindsay Corazzini, and Briana Neal all earned the honors for the first time in their careers.

To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances OR pitched 35 innings.

Hocquard was one of the top pitchers in the SSC as she compiled a 16-6 record with a 2.24 ERA in 153.1 innings pitched. The junior pitcher totaled a career-high 118 strikeouts. She closed out the regular season, earning the final SSC Pitcher of the Week honors, going 2-0 in 20 innings pitched, including a 13-inning complete game affair against Eckerd. Hocquard led the team with 15 complete games, including six shutouts, and earned the lone save on the season for the Lions. Hocquard adds this honor to her postseason honors this season, which include a spot on the NFCA All-South Region Second Team.

Epps made 53 starts in 54 total games played as she posted a .333/.371/.356 slash line in her final season in the Green & Gold. She was second on the team with 17 stolen bases on 20 chances and totaled 45 hits, including a double and a triple, 11 RBI, and 36 runs scored. The senior posted nine multi-hit games, including a pair of 3-for-3 games. Epps recently graduated with a degree in marketing.

Neal, an accounting major and honors student, was one of three to play and start in all 54 games in 2025. The 2023 SSC Freshman of the Year finished with a .387/.488/.554 slash line.  She had 53 runs scored, 65 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, and a team-leading four home runs while driving in 41 runs. She led the team with 26 stolen bases on 30 attempts and drew 32 walks. Earlier this season, Neal was named to the NFCA Player of the Year watchlist. Neal's postseason awards this season include All-SSC First Team, NFCA All-South Region Second Team, and D2CCA All-South Region Second Team.

Thomas finished the season with a .357 average at the plate with 25 hits, including seven doubles and a triple, while driving in 14 runs and scoring 16 runs. In the circle, she went 6-3 with a 2.41 ERA in 66.2 innings pitched. Thomas opened the season, earning SSC weekly honors in the first two weeks. She first took home SSC Player of the Week honors (Feb. 3) as she posted a .778/.833/1.111 slash line. A week later, she earned SSC Pitcher of the Week honors (Feb. 10) following a 3-0 week with a 0.67 ERA in 21 innings pitched as she had three complete games, including a pair of shutouts and 12 strikeouts. Thomas is currently working towards a degree in Psychology.

Corazinni, a management major, made 50 starts in 51 games played. She held down the hot corner, posting a .942 fielding percentage. At the plate, she hit .304 with 41 hits, including three doubles, two triples, and a trio of home runs. She drove in 24 runs while scoring 23 and drew 11 walks. She was named the SSC Player of the Week (April 21) following a doubleheader sweep at Flagler (April 16). The junior infielder led the Lions with a .714/.778/1.1714 slash line against the Saints, going five-for-seven at the plate with a double, a pair of home runs, three RBI, a walk, and four runs scored.
