SAINT LEO, Fla. – #13 Saint Leo University softball team saw three student-athletes earn 2025 D2CCA All-South Region honors as announced by the organization on Monday afternoon. The Lions are represented on the second team by
Briana Neal,
Alexis Barber, and
Sydney Cline. These are the third postseason honors this season for all three Lions following All-SSC and NFCA All-Region honors earlier this month.
Barber made 52 starts in all 52 games played, making the majority of starts at shortstop to earn a spot on the All-Region second team. She was one of the hottest hitters in a potent Lions lineup as she posted a team-leading .412 average on 65 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, and a pair of home runs. She also scored 40 runs while driving in 33 and walking 12 times including two multi-walk games. Barber lifted the Lions to a first-round victory over Mississippi College in the opening game of the regional tournament belting her second homer of the season, a solo shot in the fourth inning of a 1-0 victory. She earned her first career SSC weekly honors in late March, posting a .750/.750/.917 slash line to earn the series victory at Florida Tech.
Neal was one of three to play and start in all 54 games in 2025. The 2023 SSC Freshman of the Year finished the season with a .387 average with 53 runs scored, 65 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, and a team leading four home runs while driving in 41 runs. She also led the team with 26 stolen bases on 31 attempts and drew 32 walks. Neal closed out the regular season giving the Lions a 5-4 walk-off victory in an extra inning affair with a ball up the middle for the win over Eckerd. Earlier this season, Neal was named to the NFCA Player of the Year watchlist.
There was no sophomore slump for
Sydney Cline as the Brooksville native posted one of the top batting averages on the team at .354 with 21 runs scored, 56 hits, six doubles, a team leading three triples, and a pair of home runs while driving in 40. She was one of three to play and start in all 54 games this season. Cline earned SSC Player of the Week honors to open March as she helped guide the Lions to their first SSC sweep of the season with a .600/.583/1.100 slash line as she belted her first collegiate homerun in the series finale at Palm Beach Atlantic.
