Women's Lacrosse Honors Senior Class of 2025 Prior to Matchup with #5 Florida Southern

SAINT LEO, Fla.The seventh-ranked Saint Leo University women's lacrosse team got off to a hot start on senior day against the fifth-ranked Florida Southern College Moccasins. Southern used a late onslaught of second half goals to take control en route to an 18-10 win.
 
Prior to the game, the Lions honored its senior class of 2025: McKenna Kincaid, Clara Gallapoo, Josey Storm, Caroline Dillon, Makayla Goetz, Amelia Lester, Abby Fortuna, Ava Valenti, Emma Hayhurst, and Maria Palomba.
 
Senior Maria Palomba led the Lions with four goals. Natalie Jones added a multi goal game of her own as four additional Lions found the back of the net. Palomba finished the game with six groundballs, four caused turnovers, and three draw controls.
 
In goal, junior Jessica Harclerode made 11 saves and senior Makayla Goetz made a save in roughly four and half minutes in goal.
 
#5 FLORIDA SOUTHERN 18, #7 SAINT LEO 10
  • Saint Leo jumped out to a 3-2 lead after the first 15 minutes of play. Back-to-back goals by Palomba and Jones gave the home team a 2-0 lead. Palomba's goal came just 11 seconds into the contest. Jones added a second goal with just under four minutes left in the first quarter to put Saint Leo up 3-2.
  •  The two teams traded goals in to open the second quarter with Ava Valenti putting the Green & Gold up 4-3. At this point the Mocs went one an 11-1 runs spanning the middle two quarters to put this game away. The Lions lone goal of during the run came on a women up chance from Holly Hill.
  •  As the Mocs approached a two-digit advantage, Saint Leo went on a 3-0 run with a goal from Sophia Wood and a pair of goals from Maria Palomba.
  •  Florida Southern put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter outscoring the Lions 3-2.
