FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team lost its series opener at Nova Southeastern on the road in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action on Friday night.
The Lions fired out to a 5-0 in the second inning after senior
Dylan McDonald scored on an error followed by sophomore Jake Carillo blasted a three-run homer to left field before junior
Thomas DeBrower knocked in classmate
Roberto Odor with a double to left field.
However, the Sharks went on to score eight unanswered wins to win the series opener that was highlighted by five runs in the eighth inning.
On the mound, senior
Dawson Turner started and pitched 4.0 innings while striking out two batters with one run allowed on four hits. In relief, senior
Aedan Walter tallied a trio of strikeouts while surrendering one run (earned) on three hits.
The Lions conclude their series against the Sharks tomorrow, Saturday, April 12 with a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
