MELBOURNE, Fla. – Saint Leo women's basketball junior Alanis Diaz was named to the All-Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Second Team voted by the league's head coaches and announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

Diaz started in 26 of the Lions' 28 games and averaged a career-best 13.1 points per game along with grabbing 6.4 boards a game. Her scoring output ranked ninth in the SSC while her rebounding effort was tied for 10th best in the league. From the field, the New York native shot 49.8 percent and converted 71.9 percent of her free throw attempts.

Additionally, Diaz dished out 49 total assists on the year for a 1.8 average per game while registering a career-high 32 steals. On the boards, she collected 49 offensive rebounds and 129 defensive rebounds. Diaz tied a career-best 21 points on Feb. 1 against Embry-Riddle while shooting 9-of-12 from the field and 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. The 5-foot-10 junior produced four double-doubles featuring a 12 and 11 output versus Flagler on Nov. 19, followed by a 19 and 12 performance against Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 20. On Feb. 8 she notched 14 points and 11 boards at Palm Beach Atlantic before recording 19 points and 12 rebounds versus Nova Southeastern on Feb. 15.

Diaz is the first Lion to be named to the All-SSC teams since Amanda Ulrich accomplished the feat after the 2022-23 season.
