MELBOURNE, Fla. – Sophomore outfielder Maddie Antioco was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week following the Saint Leo a 5-0 week for softball as the Lions extended their win streak to 14 games. Last week Saint Leo swept a doubleheader from West Liberty to open the week and closed out the week with a three-game sweep of #22 Barry at home over the weekend. This is the first SSC weekly honors of her career and is the third Lion to win the honors in 2025.  

The sophomore transfer was a force at the plate, posting a blistering .500/.556/.750 slash line while driving in 10 runs and racking up four doubles, six runs scored, a walk, a stolen base, and a hit-by-pitch.

Antioco's impact was on full display in the Lions' series opener against Barry, where she went 3-for-4 in a commanding 9-1 six-inning victory. She wasted no time making her mark, opening the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning to put Saint Leo on the board. Then, with the game on the verge of an early finish, Antioco delivered again in the sixth, lacing a two-RBI double to ignite a four-run rally that sealed the run-rule walk-off win.

Throughout the week, Antioco consistently provided clutch hitting, helping fuel Saint Leo's high-powered offense against quality competition. Her ability to drive in runs and set the tone early in games proved to be a key factor in the Lions' continued dominance.

Antioco and the Lions are back in action this weekend as they make the trip to the east coast of Florida for a three-game SSC series at Florida Tech. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m.
