SAINT LEO, Fla. – The thirteenth-ranked Saint Leo University women's tennis team continued its hot start to the 2025 spring season with a 6-1 Sunshine State Conference victory over Eckerd College on Wednesday evening. The Lions made easy work of their Triton opponents dropping just one game across three doubles matches and won four singles points in straight sets. Saint Leo remains unbeaten on the season while Eckerd is now 2-2 overall and 0-1 in SSC play.  

Madelyn Martin and Catherine Rabatin opened play with a 6-0 win at number three doubles before a 6-1 win by Luzia Obermeier and Kamilya Shailina clinched the doubles point for the home team. Saint Leo swept the doubles play with a 6-0 win at number two doubles by Claudia Borbon Roca and Camila Keller.  

Saint Leo opened singles play with back-to-back wins at number three and four singles and both Shailina and Keller won 6-1, 6-1 to push the Lions lead to 3-0. After falling dropping the first set 4-6, Obermeier earned back-to-back 6-1 wins to clinch all the points needed for the Lions. Eckerd earned its lone point at number one singles with a tiebreaker victory in the final set. Martin and Karina Montoya closed out the Lions win with two set victories.
