VALDOSTA, Ga. – The thirteenth ranked Saint Leo University women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 4-2 win at Valdosta State University on Friday evening. Saint Leo is in the midst of a three-match road stretch and are currently 2-0 following a win Bates on Thursday and now a win at Valdosta State.

The Lions clinched the doubles point with back-to-back wins in doubles play. Luzia Obermeier and Kamilya Shailina opened the match with a 6-4 win at number one doubles. The doubles pair of Madelyn Martin and Catherine Rabatin clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at number three doubles.

Saint Leo earned a trio of singles wins to clinch the victory as Catherine Rabatin clinched the victory for #13 Saint Leo. Kamilya Shailina opened singles play with a straight-set win, 6-1, 6-2 at number three singles. Valdosta State got on the board cutting the Lions lead to 2-1 with a win at number six singles. Luzia Obermeier pulled the visitors within one as she earned a 6-3, and 6-4 win to give the Green & Gold a 3-1 advantage. A Blazers win at number one singles put the pressure on the Lions to close out the match. Catherine Rabatin went down 7-5 in the first set and rallied with a 6-0 and 6-2 win in the final two sets to clinch the match for #13 Saint Leo at number five singles.
