LAKELAND, Fla. – The fifteenth-ranked Saint Leo University women's tennis team improved to 2-0 with a 7-0 win over Edward Waters in its home opener on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions dominated on all courts winning both doubles 6-1 and two-set victories in singles play.

Saint Leo clinched the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 victories. Nora Catanzarite and Madelyn Martin opened the match with a 6-1 doubles win. The Lions took the early 1-0 match lead as Claudia Borbon Roca and Camila Keller claimed a 6-1 win at number one doubles.

The Green & Gold took a quick 2-0 lead with a win at number six singles from a forfeit by the opposition. Saint Leo rallied off three straight two-set wins of 6-0, 6-0 at number five, three, and four. Paris Marozzelli earned the first singles win for the home team with back-to-back 6-0, 6-0 wins. Alex Warchausky clinched the match victory, also sweeping her opponents, 6-0, 6-0. Nora Catanzarite kept her opponent off the scoreboard with 6-0, 6-0 set victories. Karina Montoya earned 6-2, 6-2 wins to give the Lions a 6-0 advantage. Sophia Johnson earned a 7-5 second-set victory for her first collegiate win.
