INDIANAPOLIS – The third-ranked Saint Leo University men's tennis team earned its first shut out win of the season with a 7-0 win at Marian University on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions improved to 2-0 with the victory as Marian falls to 7-6 overall.  

A pair of 6-2 doubles wins at number one and three gave the Lions the early 1-0 match lead. Vincent Thiel and Taiyo Hirano at number one doubles opened the match with a 6-2 win. Kodai Kato and Jose David Segovia clinched the doubles point with their own 6-2 win at the number three doubles.
 
The Lions earned a victory on all six singles courts, winning five of the six in straight sets. Eduardo Cohen fell 2-6 in the first set before posting back-to-back 6-3, 6-2 set wins to clinch the shutout for the Green & Gold.

The Lions will remain in Indy for as they open play the ITA Indoor National Championships on Friday. Saint Leo is the overall number one seed and will take on the eight-seed Washburn in the opening round with an 11 a.m. first serve on February 14.
