Men’s Basketball Rolls Past South Florida Bible College in First Day of PBA Christmas Tournament

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's basketball team delivered a dominant performance on the opening day of the Palm Beach Atlantic Christmas Tournament, cruising to a 104-66 victory over South Florida Bible College on Wednesday afternoon at Rubin Arena in non-conference play.

Head coach Spencer Henke stated, "I'm proud of our guys for getting back to the winning ways tonight. I thought we took a step forward towards being LIONS for 40 minutes tonight. We aren't there yet and have more work to do. Tomorrow is an extremely important game for us as we head into break and I'm excited to see if we can put two wins together and head into break on a high."

The Lions set the tone early, erupting for 58 first-half points while shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor to take a commanding 58-35 lead into halftime. Saint Leo never looked back, outscoring South Florida Bible 46-31 in the second half to secure the 38-point win.

Senior Donovan Hill led all scorers with 22 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting, adding eight rebounds, six assists and four steals to pace the Lions. Sophomore Dominic Commisso followed with 16 points and five rebounds, while junior Jayden Johnson and senior Lenz Dupont each chipped in 11 points off the bench. Freshman Aeris Lawson added nine points and four assists, and five other Lions scored at least eight points as Saint Leo showcased its offensive depth.

Saint Leo finished the contest shooting 57.7 percent from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers. The Lions also dominated the paint, holding a 58-12 advantage in points in the paint, and capitalized in transition with 39 fast-break points.

The Lions will return to action tomorrow, Friday, December 19 as they take on American International in the final day of the Palm Beach Atlantic Christmas Tournament, with tip-off slated for 3 p.m.
