BOCA RATON, Fla. – Saint Leo men's basketball wrapped up its exhibition slate on Wednesday night, falling 112–55 to NCAA Division I Florida Atlantic at Abessinio Court inside the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
The Lions opened with an impressive first half as it held the Owls to 26.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc while Saint Leo converted 37.5 percent of their three-point attempts. Heading into halftime, Florida Atlantic grasped a 48-37 advantage. In the second half, the Owls maintained and built upon their lead to secure the exhibition victory.
Junior
Luther Smith Jr. powered the Lions offensively, finishing with a team-high 17 points, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, while going a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Sophomore
Dominic Commisso added 10 points on 5-for-10 shooting, and junior
Jayden Johnson contributed 8 points and a team-best five rebounds.
Junior
Elijah Harris chipped in five points, including an early three-pointer, and freshman
Aeris Lawson drained a triple while adding two steals. Saint Leo received 27 points from its bench and knocked down seven three-pointers on the night.
The Lions return to action on Thursday, December 18 as it competes against South Florida Bible College in the first day of the Palm Beach Atlantic Christmas Tournament at 3 p.m.
