SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team is set to make its long-awaited return to the postseason, traveling to Boca Raton to take on nationally ranked No. 7 and second-seeded Lynn in the quarterfinals of the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Men's Soccer Championship Tournament on Monday, November 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Lions enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed, marking their first SSC postseason appearance in a decade. After a strong close to the regular season that included a 1-0 victory over Tampa and a 2-0 win over Florida Southern in a non-conference bout, the Lions battled their way into conference postseason play for the first time under heach coach
Brett Parker. The Lions boast a top-five scoring defense in the SSC as they only allow and average of 1.13 goals per game.
Lynn, the No. 2 seed and ranked seventh in the latest United Soccer Coaches National Poll, will host Monday's matchup after a season that featured one of the SSC's most potent attacks and stout defensive units. The Fighting Knights own multiple SSC and national titles.
Saint Leo and Lynn met earlier this fall in Saint Leo, with the Fighting Knights earning the win in a competitive regular-season meeting. The Lions will look to flip the script this time around, led by their balanced attack and resilient defense that has kept them in tight matches throughout the season.
