Volleyball Closes Road Slate with Hard-Fought 3-0 Match at Palm Beach Atlantic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo University volleyball team closed out the road portion of its 2025 schedule on Saturday afternoon in south Florida. The Lions put up a valiant effort across the three sets but ultimately fell 3-0 at Palm Beach Atlantic. Saint Leo battled in its final road match of the season, showing strong late-set energy in a 3-0 loss at Palm Beach Atlantic. Molly Chappell led the Lions with 11 kills, while Paula Perez Rosales added nine kills and six digs.
 
The Lions hit .093 as a team with 38 kills and 31 errors on 102 attempts, saving their best effort for the third set when they hit .261 with 16 kills. Chappell led the offense with 11 kills on 27 swings, adding five digs and two blocks. Perez Rosales followed closely with nine kills, six digs, and one block, while Brielle Kallberg chipped in six kills and two block assists. Setter Tajma Muharemovic paced the offense with 32 assists and nine digs, and Camila Villar added 11 assists and a service ace. Defensively, Mia Moser collected eight digs, and Emma LeTourneau added four kills and a block in the middle.

Set 1 | Palm Beach Atlantic 25, Saint Leo 18
Saint Leo came out with energy, trading points early behind kills from Chappell and Kallberg to take an early 3-2 lead. The Sailfish responded with a 6-1 run, but the Lions battled back within 21-17 following a late kill by Chappell and a block from Kallberg and Gina Stavile. Despite the push, PBA closed on a pair of aces to take the opening set 25-18.
 
Set 2 | Palm Beach Atlantic 25, Saint Leo 12
The second frame saw Palm Beach Atlantic control momentum early, but the Lions continued to work offensively through Chappell and Perez Rosales, who each tallied three kills in the set. Villar added an ace, and Stavile provided a strong presence at the net with two kills. However, the Sailfish offense hit .609 in the set to extend their lead to 2-0.
 
Set 3 | Palm Beach Atlantic 25, Saint Leo 21
Saint Leo delivered its best effort of the match in the third set, hitting .261 while keeping pace with the Sailfish throughout. Chappell posted four kills, Perez Rosales added three, and LeTourneau chipped in two as the Lions kept the score within one at 19-18 late. Moser and Solorzano anchored the back row with several key digs, but PBA held on through a late run to close out the set 25-21 and the match.

Saint Leo returns home for the final five matches of the season. The final homestand begins this Thursday as the Lions host the Eckerd College Tritons at 6 p.m. in the Marion Bowman Activities Center. The Green & Gold will honor the Class of 2025 seniors on Saturday prior to the 4 p.m. match against the Rollins College Tars.
