LAKELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team capped off its 2025 regular season in winning fashion on Wednesday night, earning a 2-0 road victory over Florida Southern in non-conference play at the Barnett Athletic Complex.
The Lions have clinched a postseason Sunshine State Conference (SSC) berth and now await the final seedings for the remainder of the field.
Senior defender
William Gregory opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, heading home a corner kick from
Samuel Teixeira to put the Lions in front 1-0 just before halftime. Gregory's goal marked his first of the season, while Teixeira notched his first assist.
Saint Leo sealed the result late as freshman
Rodolfo Iguala scored in the 90th minute, capitalizing on a free kick from midfield after the Mocs' goalkeeper had ventured out of position. Iguala's strike was his third of the year and provided the Lions with a two-goal cushion in the closing seconds.
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper
James Knudson turned in a stellar performance between the posts, recording three saves en route to his fourth shutout of the season.
Florida Southern outshot the Lions 15-13 in total attempts but held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. Saint Leo also produced five corner kicks compared to six for the Mocs.
The Lions, who earned the seventh-seed for the SSC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament, are slated to face, the reigning National Champions, the seventh-ranked team in the country, and who claimed the second seed in the tournament, Lynn, on Monday on the road, starting at 6 p.m.
