Volleyball Takes Down Tars in a Five-Set Senior Day Thriller

SAINT LEO, Fla. - LIONS WIN! The Saint Leo University volleyball team delivered its seniors a thrilling victory on senior day. The Lions staved off a comeback by Rollins with a 17-15 win in the fifth and final set. Saturday's win over the Tars snapped a 19-game losing streak to give the Green & Gold their first Sunshine State Conference win of the season.

Prior to Saturday's win Saint Leo honored its senior class of Brielle Kallberg, Tajma Muharemovic, Paula Perez Rosales, and Giada Solorzano.

Saint Leo hit .207 as a team with 64 kills while delivering some of its best offensive stretches of the season, including a .405 second set. Paula Perez Rosales powered the Lions with 22 kills and 13 digs, while Brielle Kallberg added 11 kills on .350 hitting with four total blocks. Emma LeTourneau and Gina Stavile contributed six and seven kills respectively, Tajma Muharemovic posted 28 assists and 13 digs, and Camila Villar added 23 assists and an ace. Libero Mia Moser anchored the back row with nine digs and three aces, and Molly Chappell rounded out the effort with seven kills and 10 digs.

Set 1 | Rollins 25, Saint Leo 14
Rollins came out surging behind a .517 team hitting clip, pushing Saint Leo into an early deficit. Perez Rosales and Kallberg provided the early offensive sparks, but the Tars' clean side-out rhythm forced Saint Leo to regroup after dropping the opening frame.

Set 2 | Saint Leo 26, Rollins 24
The Lions erupted in the second set with one of their strongest offensive performances of the season, pounding out 19 kills at a blistering .405 clip. Perez Rosales took over with seven kills in the frame, while Villar and Muharemovic ran a fast, balanced offense. Down late, Saint Leo rallied with a clutch 4–1 run, capped by a Perez Rosales swing to tie the match 1–1.

Set 3 | Saint Leo 27, Rollins 25
In a wild, back-and-forth third set featuring five tie scores and two lead changes, Saint Leo delivered in the biggest moments. Chappell and LeTourneau came alive with key kills, and Moser's serving run pushed the Lions into control. Perez Rosales closed the door with her 15th kill of the match, lifting Saint Leo to a 2–1 lead.

Set 4 | Rollins 25, Saint Leo 20
Rollins steadied itself, capitalizing on Saint Leo errors to force a deciding fifth set. Kallberg and Stavile each added late kills, while the Lions' back row produced several momentum-saving digs to keep the set within reach before the Tars evened the match.

Set 5 | Saint Leo 17, Rollins 15
In an electric Senior Day finish, Saint Leo and Rollins traded punches through eight ties and six lead changes. Perez Rosales delivered four kills in the final frame, and Chappell added a massive mid-set point to swing momentum. At 16–15, Kallberg hammered home her 11th kill to seal the match and end the Lions' 19-match skid in front of the Saint Leo faithful.

Inside the Numbers UP NEXT
Saint Leo's homestand continues next week with the final three games of the season. The Lions will host top-ranked Tampa (Nov. 18 - 6 p.m.), Barry (Nov. 21 - 6 p.m.) and the reigning national champions Lynn (Nov. 22 - 4 p.m.).
