ORLANDO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team had a pair of players named to the All-Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Teams on Thursday afternoon as senior forward
Anel Rojas and senior midfielder
Ayoub Boumelala earned the recognition.
Rojas tallied five goals and four assists on the year with 27 shots on goal while logging over 1,200 minutes for the Lions. He paced the team in goals, points and shot attempts and was tied for fifth in the conference for most goals. He connected on the game-winning goal versus Florida Southern on Sept. 24. The Panama native collected his third all-conference nod of his career.
Boumelala, a Dijon, France native, has steadily contributed to the Lions lineup as he started in all 12 games that he appeared in for Saint Leo and logged over 960 minutes. Boumelala earned conference-wide distinction for his consistent performances and presence on the pitch.
The Lions finished their season by earning the seventh-seed of the SCC Championship Tournament, marking the first time in a decade that Saint Leo made the SSC postseason.
