LAKE CITY, Fla. - Saint Leo University men's and women's cross country ran at the Alligator Lake Open, seeing a first place by the women's team and fourth place finish by the men's team.
The men saw freshman Santiago Rodriguez place ninth overall with a personal best in the 8k of 28:35.1. Freshman Jordan Seymore was the second lion to cross the line in 29:20.1, also a personal best.
Rounding out the scoring for men saw senior Sawyer Raveling, junior Brandon Hill, and freshman Eliab Alcantara all finish consecutively with times of 29:43.9, 29:49.0, and 30:16.8 accordingly.
The men placed fourth overall with total of 78 points.
The women's program saw a first-place finish, the first victory of head coach Anthony Deleva's career.
Senior Rachel Jarrett placed third overall, leading the pride of the lions with a 5k time of 19:59.9.
Junior Dakotah Medows took sixth in 22:01.3 followed by a trio of freshman lions in eighth, ninth, and 10th place. Maria Tejada, Alexis Morgan, and Delaney Glynn finished with times of 22:40.7, 22:41.1, and 22:58.1 respectively.
The women won the Alligator Lake Open scoring 27 points.
Cross country now looks ahead to next Sat. Oct. 11, for the Ave Maria Invitational, hosted by Ave Maria University.
