How It Happened: #22 EMBRY-RIDDLE 2, SAINT LEO 0
Saint Leo battled through a physical opening half, limiting Embry-Riddle's chances before the hosts broke through late. The Eagles opened the scoring in the 44th minute when Anna Hansson found the back of the net off a setup from Ria Vlachos. The Lions looked to respond early in the second half, but a quick counter from Embry-Riddle extended the lead as Ida Zetterberg scored in the 50th minute with an assist from Thea Nyberg.
Ainsley Meyer generated two of Saint Leo's best looks on goal, including a dangerous shot in the 69th minute that was stopped by goalkeeper Stella Roane. The Lions earned four corner kicks throughout the match and stayed organized defensively behind strong efforts from
Julia Gonsman and
Evie Paget. Guidotti turned away a pair of Embry-Riddle shots, including a late save in the 82nd minute to prevent further damage.
