LAKELAND, Fla. - Saint Leo University men's and women's tennis teams made the quick trip down I-98 to compete in the YTF Southeastern Invitational in Lakeland, hosted by Southeastern University over the weekend. The highlight of the tournament was a first place finish by senior Dylan Andrianaly who took first place in singles play of black draw.

Dylan Andrianaly made his way through the Black Draw to take a first place finish for the Lions back to Saint Leo. As the #7 seed, Andrianaly took down the #2 seed Mario Garoz from Florida Southern in the quarterfinals and the #3 seed Simon Malis from Flager in the semifinal round. After dropping the opening set 4-6, Andrianaly bounced back to win the second set 8-6 in the tiebreaker and then sealed the victory with a 10-6 win in tiebreakers.

Freshman Mahit Mekala put together a nice run in the Red Draw with a semifinals appearance.

On the doubles side, Shay Sarfati and Eduardo Cohen took down the #2 and the #6 seed in to face the top seed from Southeastern, who defeated the Lions doubles pair, 8-3.

Singles play for the women saw a little momentum in the main draws but on back draws, Sara Annathea advanced to the finals and Madelyn Martin made it to the semifinals.

The women saw two doubles pairs advance to the round of 16, but did not advance any further in the draw.

UP NEXT
Both teams will be represented at next weekend's ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia. Jose David Segovia and Kodai Kato earned an automatic bid with a regional first place finish. Candice Bernier and Catherine Rabatin earned an at-large bid following a runner up finish at the regional tournament earlier this month. The ITA Cup will be played October 16-19 in Rome, Georgia.
