Erin Kinberger has announced her schedule for the upcoming 2025 softball season. The 2025 season marks the 10th season in which Kinberger has led her alma mater. The Lions are set to play 52 games in 2025 including 29 games at University Softball Stadium. Saint Leo is coming off a 38-19 2024 campaign that saw it finish in third place in the SSC with 21 conference wins and advance to the NCAA Division II South Region 2 in Montgomery, Ala.
In addition to the 21 home games Saint Leo's schedule features 17 road contests and six neutral site games. The season kicks off with a series of non-conference games featuring some regional and top 25 opponents.
The season begins on the final day of January at the Gulf Shores Invitational with six games over the course of the weekend. Saint Leo will take on Auburn – Montgomery (Jan. 31), Montevallo (Jan. 31), West Florida (Feb. 1), Union (Tenn.) (Feb. 1), and Lenoir-Rhyne (Feb. 2) and Rogers State (Okla.) (Feb. 2) as its only regular season games outside of the state of Florida.
Saint Leo returns home the next week to take on a trio of Gulf South Conference opponents with doubleheaders against West Alabama (Feb. 7), Alabama – Huntsville (Feb. 8), and Valdosta State (Feb. 9).
The Lions conference schedule opens up on Feb. 14 with a three-game series at Tampa. In 2025, Saint Leo will also make SSC trips to Palm Beach Atlantic (Feb. 28-March 1), Florida Tech (March 21-22), Florida Southern (April 4-5), and Lynn (April 25-26).
SSC home series features visits by Rollins (Feb. 21-22), Barry (March 14-15), Embry-Riddle (March 28-29), Nova Southeastern (April 11-12), and Eckerd (May 2-3) to close out the regular season.
The Green & Gold will spend the early part of March with four doubleheaders in a nine-day span from March 3-11. The Lions will host Tiffin (Ohio) (March 3), Adelphi (March 5), Wilmington (Del.) (March 7), and West Liberty (March 11).
Saint Leo will close out its non-conference schedule in the middle of April with a doubleheader at Flagler (April 16).
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
- The schedule features 10 teams that joined the Lions in advancing to the NCAA Division II postseason for softball. The group includes five teams earning their conference's automatic bid: AUM (GSC), Lenior-Rhyne (SAC), Rogers State (Okla.) (MIAA), Wilmington (Del.) (CACC), and Tampa (SSC). Additionally, Nova Southeastern, Alabama-Huntsville, West Alabama, and Flagler all earned at-large bids with Adelphi also earning an at-large bid as well as hosting rights for the East 2 Regional.
- Seven of the Lions opponents in 2025 were ranked in the final 2024 NFCA Division II Top 25 poll including three in the top six: #4 Lenior-Rhyne, #5 Wilmington (Del.), and #6 AUM. Rounding out the opponents in the final top 25 of 2024 are #12 Rogers State (Okla.), #13 Tampa, #24 Adelphi, and #25 Nova Southeastern.
- Of the Lions 2025 opponents that made the 2024 NCAA championship bracket, the Bears of Lenior-Rhyne made a deep run falling just short of advancing to the championship series following a 5-2 loss to the eventual national champions, UT-Tyler.
