LAKELAND, Fla. – The second-ranked Saint Leo University men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2024-25 schedule at the ITA Regional Championships in Lakeland on Sunday. Kodai Kato, Luis Iriarte, Dylan Andrianaly, and Jose David Segovia Perez all competed in singles play for the Lions. Eduardo Cohen, Iriarte, Kato, and Segovia Perez made their season debuts in the doubles bracket.

SINGLES

• Kato advanced in the main bracket with a two-set victory over AUM's Raphael Pertusier before falling in the second round to Barry's Stanislas De Samucewicz in straight sets.
• Iriarte opened his match against Rollins Nicolas de Giacomo with a 6-3 win in the first set but fell 3-6 and 3-10 to fall to the consolation bracket.
• Andrianaly got off to a quick start with a 6-2 opening set win over Montevallo's Paul Sobich before dropping the final two sets 4-6 and 4-10.
• In the consolation bracket, Iriarte, Andrianaly, and Segovia Perez all advanced to the consolation round of 16 with wins in the consolation round of 32. They all are set to play at 11 a.m. on Monday morning.

DOUBLES

• Iriarte and Cohen defeated Lynn's doubles pair of Aymen Alimoussa and Lennart Ostheimer to advance to the second round. They will take on Lee's Wihan Van Der Merwe and Filipe Krohn da Silva at 8 a.m. on Monday morning.
• Kato and Segovia Perez also earned a win in their double match. The Lions duo won 8-7 with a 7-4 win in the tiebreaker. They advanced to the second round and will take on Spring Hill's Hugo Blasco and Tom Gutermann also at 8 a.m. on Monday morning.
